Author Chris Turner: "The Patch" ~ Bluegrass Festival Preview

Thursday, June 7 – Almost daily the Alberta oil sands make the news across Canada with pro-pipeline and anti-pipeline stories. In the ultimate power move, the Canadian government recently (end of May) purchased the controversial Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain Pipeline, allowing the national government to sidestep opposition from the government of British Columbia. The province had objected to the proposed route across the Rockies. Today we share an interview with Chris Turner, author of The Patch: The People, Pipelines, and Politics of the Oil Sands. He visits with Sarah Aaronson, host of “The Write Question,” a show from Montana Public Radio that features interviews with authors. ~~~ Jill Wiese of the Cotton Wood band stops by to invite music fans to the Bluegrass Festival at Cross Ranch State Park. This year’s special guests include Monroe Crossing North Country Bluegrass, and the Flatt Mountain Bluegrass Boys. ~~~ Doug and Ashley have our What’s Happening calendar of events.
