Community Conversations With North Dakota Congressman Earl Pomeroy

By Dave Thompson

Bismarck, ND – North Dakota Congressman Earl Pomeroy says Americans have a lot to discuss after last week's terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, D.C. And he wants to listen.

This week Pomeroy is hosting a series of "community conversations" to talk about the terrorist attacks.

"We have been exposed to stunning events and then through the comprehensive and I'd say quite excellent media coverage, the immediacy of the horror, the depth of the sorrow, the heartbreaking loss that has occurred has left us all with just an awful lot to deal with."

Pomeroy says these will be "open mic" situations -- where people can come and discuss anything related to the tragedy.

The first meeting was held in Bismarck last night. A second meeting is scheduled for Fargo tonight.

"I hope to just provide an "open mic" opportunity for people to express whatever they want to talk about, what they were doing when they heard, how they have dealt with it since, and what they think we should do as a country."

The first community conversation was held in Bismarck last night. Monday night one is being held in Fargo, Tuesday forums will be held in Grand Forks and Minot.
