Glen Ullin - BOIL ORDER In Effect for City Water Supply.

Residents in the Morton County community of Glen Ullin are being advised to boil their water if they are going to be using it for drinking, food preparation, or washing dishes until further notice. Glen Ullin Emergency Manager Albert Lautenschlager explains…

"We had a contamination in our City Water holding tanks. A wild animal had got into a water tank and drown. To protect the citizens we drained down the tanks, and went through all the protocol with the Health Department and they issued the boil order, just in case there would be any residual contamination."

He says until they give the all clear residents need to follow the guidelines of the boil order…

"Do not drink the water without boiling it first. Bring all water to a boil let it boil for one minute and let it cool before using. The boiling kills bacteria and other organisms that may be in the water. Parents should only use bottled water when preparing baby formula. The boiled water, bottled water or water from another secured source should be used for drinking, making ice, food preparation, brushing teeth, and washing dishes until further notice."

Lautenschlager says the testing of the water sample will be done tomorrow morning, with results back possibly by the afternoon.
