Joseph McNeil, Jr. ~ Hemp Market ~ Naturopath Alli Svobodny

Wednesday, January 16 – On February 1, 1960, four African American college students sat down at a lunch counter at Woolworth’s in Greensboro, North Carolina, and politely asked for service. Their request was refused. When asked to leave, they remained in their seats. Their passive resistance and peaceful sit-down demand helped ignite a youth-led movement to challenge racial inequality throughout the South. Joining us today is Standing Rock Sioux tribal member and Bismarck resident Joseph McNeil, Jr., the son of one of those protestors. Joseph will be the featured speaker at Monday’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day observance at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bismarck. ~~~ After nearly a century of heavy state and federal restrictions, hemp, a close cousin of Marijuana, is now legal. From Harvest Public Media, Esther Honig reports it comes just in time to respond to the burgeoning hemp market. ~~~ Naturopathic doctor Alli Svobodny returns for a conversation about bacteria, hand sanitizers and antibiotics. ~~~ From naturopath to naturalist, Chuck Lura tells us about the upcoming lunar eclipse in this week’s Natural North Dakota essay.
