Wednesday, June 27 – The Language Conservancy (TLC) works to revive endangered languages. Alex Fire Thunder is an instructor for the Lakota Summer Institute at United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck. This year, The Lakota Summer Institute is partnering with StoryCorps, the oral history project. ~~~ Tom Isern shares a Plains Folk essay, Successful Gardening.  ~~~ Before the attack on Pearl Harbor, a group of young American men and women risked their lives in the defense of China. Led by Army pilot Claire Chennault, they crossed the Pacific using false identities only to wind up on a rundown air base in the jungles of Burma. South Dakota Public Broadcasting’s Steve Zwemke talks with author Sam Kleiner about "Flying Tigers: The Untold Story of the American Pilots Who Waged a Secret War Against Japan."
