A Look Back on 2017 Interviews: ND Prison Reform ~ Total Solar Eclipse ~ High-Flying Physics Lessons

Wednesday, December 27 – Today we’re looking back at a few of 2017’s memorable interview. We start with Leann Bertsch. She’s the director of North Dakota’s Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. She had an eye-opening visit to prisons in Norway and is now implementing some of the interesting strategies she observed. We re-air a conversation from July. ~~~ 2017 was a good year for sky watchers. In August, Ashley Thornberg and Fred Remer flew to Nebraska to be in the Path of Totality. Remer teaches meteorology and is a private pilot. ~~~ Speaking of planes, we revisit a piece on high-flying physics lessons with educator Dr. Erin Nyren. ~~~ Chuck Lura reminds us that nature is very much alive even in the dead of winters. ~~~ In 2017, Amy Thielen, chef and food writer, released a memoir, Give a Girl a Knife.
