The current director of the state Department of Human Services has a new job.
Actually, Maggie Anderson is going back to the job she had before being appointed to the director’s job. As of December first, she’s the director of Medicaid services for the Department.
"I will continue my appointment with Gov. Dalrymple," Anderson said. "Then, Gov.-elect Burgum has asked me to stay on as the interim executive director until his administration can complete the search and offer that job to someone else."
Three years ago, Anderson said she was asked to take the job on a temporary basis -- then was offered the full-time directorship shortly after that.
Anderson said she went through the state’s Central Personnel division to apply for the Medicaid job – to avoid any potential conflict.
"I really like Medicaid," Anderson said. "And I would like to focus on doing things there to help people."
Anderson said she would also like to focus on one thing, rather than "the big, broad pieces of the Department."
And Anderson said as the agency director, she’s proud of implementing Medicaid expansion, which allowed more than 20,000 .
"It was an incredible amount of work for a lot of people in this agency," Anderson said. "And we have 20,000 people who did not have medical coverage before. We have heard tremendous stories from people on what that health care coverage has meant to them."
