Noodles by Leonardo closing

A pasta processing company based in Cando and Devils Lake, ND, will close its doors this fall.

Noodles by Leonardo's plans came to light when it asked the North Dakota Public Service Commission to cancel its grain elevator license. In a letter to the PSC, company vice-president Kenneth Aune said Noodles by Leonardo ceased buying and milling grain in October, 2011. Aune said since then, the company has been buying flour from Minot Milling Co., and will continue to do that until "we permanently close the business." Aune said Noodles by Leonardo has a tentative closing date of Sept. 30.

Several months ago, the company announced it was consolidating operations at its Cando facility.

A spokesman for the company refused comment, saying Noodles by Leonardo is a private company, and "we don't have to give reporters a story."

There's no information on how many employees will be affected.
