Waldsee Camp Dilemma ~ Rainbow Senior Oral History ~ News Chat ~ Review: "Eighth Grade"

Friday, August 10 – UND philosophy professor Jack Russell Weinstein joins us to discuss an issue facing the Concordia Language Village German-immersion camp called Waldsee. The camp recently learned that the name Waldsee has holocaust associations, and they’re trying to figure out what to do about it. On Thursday, Jack emceed a panel discussion about the problem at the language camp near Bemidji. ~~~ We e share another excerpt from the Red River Rainbow Seniors oral history project called “Breaking Barriers: Harvesting LGBTQ Stories from the Northern Plains.” Today’s anonymous interviewee is being interviewed by project volunteer Larry Peterson, professor of history emeritus. ~~~ It features stories from folks who grew up back when being “out” was much harder. ~~~ News director Dave Thompson joins us with a discussion of the latest headlines. ~~~ Matt Olien reviews “Eighth Grade.”
