Mandan, ND – A program designed to help North Dakotans purchase, build or remodel their homes when they have trouble with conventional financing has made its first loans.

It's called the "Lewis and Clark DREAM Fund." "DREAM" stands for Downpament and closing costs; Rehabilitation; Emergency repairs; and Mortgage assistance.

Bismarck, ND – North Dakota National Guard soldiers will be stationed at North Dakota's eight major airports -- to help with security.

Governor Hoeven says this is being done because President Bush has asked for help -- until airport security can be federalized.

Bismarck, ND – A North Dakota education organization has received a $885,000 grant to provide school administrators with training in advanced technologies over the next three years.

Gov. John Hoeven announced that the grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will go to the North Dakota Leadership and Educational Administration Development -- or LEAD -- Center. LEAD is a non-profit education organization focused on developing good leaders for schools in the state.

Bismarck, ND – The North Dakota Highway Patrol has unveiled a new program designed to help cut down on the number of under-age drinkers who drive.

Highway Patrol Superintendent Col. Jim Hughes says, "About 90 percent of our problems with drinking would go away if people would not get in a car and drive after they've been drinking."

Bismarck, ND – It's called a Postcard from the Prairie -- a very large postcard that is going from North Dakota to New York City.

It's in the form of a 50-foot banner, and it's from local policemen, firemen and patriotic citizens of Bismarck and Mandan. Along with donations, this huge postcard will soon be delivered to the city of New York and the thousands of victims of the terrorist attacks.

Bismarck, ND – Starting next week, a dozen Amoco service stations across North Dakota will begin operating under a new logo.

They will be sporting the new logo of Tesoro Petroleum, the company that purchased the Mandan refinery, pipeline and other assets. Refinery spokesman Leif Peterson says part of the purchase of the Mandan refinery was twelve North Dakota service stations. Six of those are in Bismarck-Mandan, five are in Fargo and the other one is in Dickinson.

Fargo, ND – On October 8th, 1998--Judy Shepard was awakened in the middle of the nightby a phone call that no parent should ever have to receive.

Her eldest son--Matthew--was brutally beaten because he was gay. A few daysfollowing the attack, Matthew died.

Judy Shepard now uses her grief over he sons death to speak out against hatecrimes. Shepard wants America to understand that this is an anomaly.
