Grand Forks Chamber of Commerce hosting Farmer Appreciation Dinner

By Tracy Fugere

Grand Forks, ND – The Grand Forks Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Farmers AppreciationDinner on Thursday evening for active farmers in the surrounding area.

North Dakota Governor John Hoeven, Agriculture Commissioner Roger Johnson, and Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem have also been invited to attend theevent.

The President of the Grand Forks Chamber of Commerce--Dan Schenkein(shen-kine)--says this is the first time in a number of years that theChamber of Commerce has offered this to area farmers.

"It's an idea that the Chamber's Agriculture Committee has been discussing and considering for a couple of years. This was the year that made sense. We've been planning this since early springtime and it's just a great chance for us to say thank you to the farm families in our area for their contributions not only here but througout the state and the region."

Schenkein says they expect 400 farmers and many representatives from areabusinesses to be there.

I think the fact that we planned for 400 farmers to be there on Thursday night as well as hosts, we're probably going to hit that goal. The response has been very favorable and hopefully those who have not had the opportunity to reserve seats or get tickets this year, will mark their calendar and let us know this time next year that they have an interest in joining us."

The dinner begins at 5:30 p-m at the Ramada Inn in Grand Forks.
