United Blood Services says gift of blood important

By Todd McDonald

Bismarck, ND – Officials from United Blood Services say they are entering a critical time of the year - and they are hoping volunteers keep "the gift of blood" in mind through the holiday season.

Connie Morris, of United Blood Service's Bismarck clinic says after September 11th there was a large display of support for blood banks across the nation. She says as we approach the Christmas and New Year' holiday, donors are being reminded their efforts are appreciated?

"What we're looking for now, is a consistent number of donors to come in. The holidays are always a bad time of year for us. And we're not in any major crisis right now. We're not in a shortage. We just need to hcve a consistent supply."

Morris says they lose only one day for operations at the local centers. But the mobile blood clinics lose an average of ten days in gathering donations through New Years. She says this makes donations to local offices all the more important.
