Hoeven: Low jobless rate is not a business deterrant

By Dave Thompson

Bismarck, ND – North Dakota's low unemployment rate may be a double-edged economic sword.

The state's jobless rate is much lower than the national jobless rate. Some companies may look at that number when they're considering expansion into North Dakota, and may think the labor pool is pretty shallow.

Governor Hoeven says the state is making a concerted effort to show that's not the case.

"We do a labor availablility study for them. And we always show them that not only are the people available -- but they do sample interviews. And they're very impressed with the people. And so, it hasn't been a challenge."

Hoeven says the low jobless rate also shows a more stable economy.
