New oil pipeline planned for SW North Dakota

By Dave Thompson

Bismarck, ND – The Public Service Commission will be reviewing a proposed new oil pipeline in southwestern North Dakota.

Plains All American Pipeline LP wants to build a 6-inch crude oil pipeline for 33 miles from Killdeer in Dunn County to just north of Dickinson. It would carry about 10,000 barrels of crude oil daily.

Commissioner Tony Clark says the pipeline would give oil producers better access to crude markets to the south.

"The enemy of North Dakota producers is being locked in to just one market," said PSC member Tony Clark. "This is an attempt by a pipeline company to open up a market that previously had limited access."

The company wants to start construction next spring.
