UND President Mark Kennedy has been chosen as the next President of the University of Colorado.
Kennedy's confirmation vote by CU's elected Board of Regents was 5 to 4 on party lines. Regent John Carson said Kennedy was not going to be hired to be a politician, and that he will not be political president of the University of Colorado. Kennedy's selection comes after weeks of controversy concerning his record as a Republican Congressman from Minnesota. Kennedy was selected as the only finalist for the position.
In a statement from the University of North Dakota, the university stated it would work with the Chancellor and Board of Higher Education to search for a replacement and ensure a seamless transition from President Kennedy's leadership.
