North Dakota Corn Growers Association has new President

Andrew Mauch farms new Mooreton, North Dakota.

The new president of the North Dakota Corn Growers Association says he’s cautiously optimistic about this year’s growing season.

Andrew Mauch will begin his term on July 1st.

He says he is humbled to move forward in his new role. He says the last couple of years have been challenging, and this year is no different.

"I would say right where I'm at in our area, we were able to get in some fields in decent conditions, but in general it's about 80 percent planted. It's cautiously optimistic, I would say is a good way to put it. Things were not all put in in a good condition, so right now for the conditions - it looks pretty good. But I'm curious to see how it's going to fare in the end when it comes to the harvest season."

Mauch is a 4th generation farmer from Mooreton, North Dakota. He grows corn, soybeans, navy beans and sugar beets with his father and brother.
