The North Dakota Department of Commerce announced that Commerce Tourism and Marketing released a few fun ways to celebrate 701 Day on July 1st. North Dakota is one of 12 states with only one area code, making July 1st a day of celebration for North Dakota. Alicia Jolliffe is ND Tourism's social strategist.

"As all of us know (if you live in North Dakota), we only have one area code in our state, and we are one of the few that have it, so when it comes to July first, which is 7/01, its kind of an unofficial holiday to celebrate North dakota and the things that make it unique and fun and really just what locals love about it. "

To celebrate 701 Day, Commerce Tourism and Marketing created new North Dakota themed GIFs and digital stickers that are available in various social media sites by searching for North Dakota in the platform’s GIF library.

"We made a new landing page that is playing as a hub for unique things about North Dakota, fun facts about North Dakota. We are releasing some new virtual postcards that should be ready to go by Friday, 7/01, and basically, anyone can create and personalize their own personal postcards to send anyone that they want. You can do that through social, or email, or whatever is best for you. But really, we are just trying to give people tools and a place to celebrate North Dakota pride in the digital space, and I'm hoping that its something that people will have a lot of fun with."

Jolliffe says the department hopes make 701 day an even bigger occasion next year.
