Art Tunnel Proposal ~ Mark Trahant Commentary ~ ND Mosque's Legacy ~ Raising Money to Build Wells

Monday, July 15 – Did you know there was a tunnel beneath State Street in Bismarck between the Heritage Center and Myron Atkinson Park? There’s an idea in the works to enhance it with historic art to make it an educational extension of the Heritage Center. Joining us to discuss the project are Jenny Wollmuth and Tracey Miller, who were on the team that came up with the idea during a Chamber of Commerce leadership program, and Brenda Nagel of the Leadership Bismarck-Mandan Committee.  ~~~ We share a commentary from Mark Trahant regarding a recent tweet from the president. ~~~ ~~~ Ross, ND can claim the first building built specifically to be a mosque. Today the descendants of those families share that history with new American Muslims. NPR’s Leila Fadel reports. ~~~ Meet Sawyer Anderson, who, at 10 years of age, helped raise $26,000 to develop wells for poverty-stricken villagers in Zambia. She subsequently wrote and helped illustrate a book called “Water Works, an American Girl’s Journey to Bring Clean Water to Africa.”
