Arts Convening and Awards ~Genealogy for Scandinavians

Monday, March 4, 2019 – The North Dakota Council on the Arts will host the Statewide Arts Convening March 19-20.  It will kick off with a ceremony for the winners of the Governor’s Awards for the Arts. Here with a preview, and a discussion of the winners, is Kim Konikow, executive director of the NDCA. ~~~ Commentary from Bruce Berg: “The Buffalo.” ~~~ There are United Methodist churches throughout North Dakota, and some of them might consider breaking away into a new Methodist denomination. This comes after delegates at the church's General Conference adopted several resolutions that reaffirmed the church's longstanding conservative positions on homosexuality. NPR’s Tom Gelten reports. ~~~ The State Historical Society of North Dakota will be presenting workshops on Genealogy for Scandinavians. “Digging into Ancestry: Researching Scandinavian Roots,” will be offered on March 9 and March 28. Here with a preview is Stephanie Baltzer Kom, who heads up technical services at the historical society.
