Dan Traynor resigns from Board of Higher Education; he's becoming a federal judge

Governor Burgum will have three spots to fill on the Board of Higher Education.

One appointment will come up very soon.

Board member Dan Traynor has submitted his resignation, effective tomorrow (Jan. 3rd). Traynor recently was approved to serve as a federal District Judge for the state of North Dakota. In a letter to Burgum, Traynor said continued service on the Board of Higher Education would violate the Code of Conduct for United States Judges.

Later this year, Board member Don Morton will leave the Board, after serving two terms.  Morton is a former Board chairman.

And the student member – Kaleb Dschaak of UND – will finish his one-year term in July.
