Five candidates have agreed to come to Bismarck for face-to-face interviews and open forums, in the search for a new President at Bismarck State College.
Current President Dr. Larry Skogen is retiring June 30th.
The candidates are: Dr. Clark Harris, special assistant to the president of Laramie County Community College; Dr. Douglas Jensen, President and CEO of Rock Valley College; Dr. Philip Klein, the dean of health and safety at South Piedmont Community College; Dr. Joan Poor, executive director of Slack Farms Foundation; and Dr. Richard Sax, provost and vice president for academic affairs at the University of Rio Grande.
Search Committee co-chairman Tim Mihalick said the committee received 41 applications for the job, and 12 were interviewed last week.
"I will say it was a very good search," Mihalick said. "We had a very in-tune search committee that put a lot of time and effort into it. Great candidates, good people, and I'm excited about what's in front of us."
The five will be on the BSC campus during the first week of March. After that, three finalists will be interviewed by the Board. The Board will make a selection at its March 26 meeting.
