Former White Earth Resident on Netflix ~ Subscription Fatigue ~ Migratory Birds ~ Service Learning

Wednesday, April 24 – Marcus LaVoi is from the White Earth Reservation in Minnesota. He stars alongside Uma Thurman in Chambers, coming out Friday on Netflix. ~~~ Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, HBO…the list of subscription services has grown to 300, and is still growing. Nearly half of consumers say they’re getting frustrated. Jeff Loucks is the executive director for Deloitte’s Center for Technology, Media and Telecom. He  joined Tanzina Vega on The Takeaway to talk about subscription frustrations and what companies can do to combat them. ~~~ As prairie and grasslands gave way to farmland, habitat for birds and aquatic life disappeared. But what if there was a way to make space for native birds and give farmers a little extra cash in return? Harvest Public Media’s Madelyn Beck looked into a program that’s trying to do just that. ~~~ Students in the small town of Center, North Dakota are making big waves in their community thanks to service learning. That’s when kids take what they learn in the classroom and help others. Nikki Doll and two students join Tom Gerhardt on The Cutting Ed podcast.
