Helping Victims of Crime ~ Poetry from Studio 47 ~ "Cats Cradle" Shelter

Tuesday, January 28, 2020 – Crime victims who may not have qualified for mental health assistance in the past might now get help thanks to a grant through the Victims of Crime Act. Joining us from Lutheran Social Services are Tina Jacobs and Terri Burns. ~~~ Patrick Hicks presents a Poetry from Studio 47 episode on Wilfred Owen. ~~~ After last spring’s heavy rains and flooding, many Midwestern communities are still living with damaged water infrastructure. And as Harvest Public Media’s Christina Stella reports, some still don’t know how they’ll afford to protect themselves from more damages this year. ~~~ What happens to animals at the pound if no one comes for them? Sometimes they're euthanized. Sometimes they're transferred. Cats Cradle is a no-kill shelter that takes in hundreds of cats a year that the pound can no longer handle. From this week's Prairie Pulse, Host John Harris visits with Jill Frederick, one of the founders.
