Sunday, April 18, 2021 - We begin with a news recap from Dave Thompson ~~~ University of Mary professor Dan Bielinski is producing a film based on the last lynching in North Dakota. It’s called “End of the Rope,” and he’s been auditioning actors in preparation of filming. ~~~ The expansion of the Child Tax Credit (CTC) in the American Rescue Plan is projected to decrease child poverty by 40%. That’s expected to have an outsized effect on rural areas where the poverty rate is often higher. Since poverty and food insecurity are so closely linked, we’ve invited Karen Ehrens of Hunger-Free North Dakota to discuss the potential. ~~~ Tom Isern shares a Plains Folk essay titled "Cattle Kings and Trick Horses."
