Mock to serve on national committee

North Dakota House of Representatives

A North Dakota legislator has been named co-chair of a national committee that meets to discuss issues in state governments.

Grand Forks Representative Corey Mock, a Democrat, was named co-chair of the Council of State Governments' Interbranch Affairs Committee for 2019-2020. He will serve with Republican Michael Mower, Deputy Chief of Staff for Utah Governor Gary Herbert. The committee meets at least once per year and works on developing positions on policy and solutions that encourage cooperation between branches of government and state agencies. Mock says this is the first time he's been involved in the Council of State Governments, and he's currently the only North Dakotan on the committee.

"It's definitely not every day - we've had some past members, I know Representative Kim Koppelman is a former national chairman of CSG, but it's few and far between the number of times North Dakota legislators or elected officials serve at the national level on boards like this."

As co-chair, Mock will also be serving on the CSG's Leadership Council, which meets this weekend in Louisville, Kentucky.
