ND cases of coronavirus rise to 15; doubling since yesterday

State health officials have confirmed eight additional cases of COVID-19 detected in North Dakota, bringing the total to 15.

The patients are located in Burleigh and Morton counties and include – one man in his 60s in Morton County, and in Burleigh County a woman in her 50s, a man in his 70s, a man in his 40s, a woman in her 20s, a man in his 30s, a woman in her 20s and a man in his 60s. State Health Officer Mylynn Tufte says these results underscore the importance of practicing social distancing to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Governor Burgum, Tufte and state health officials are strongly recommending North Dakotans to stay home when feeling sick, practicing good hand washing and covering their cough. They also recommend that if anyone in a household tests positive, that everyone in that household stay home. Older individuals are encouraged to stay away from others, and working from home when possible is encouraged. It is also recommended that social gatherings of 10 or more people are avoided, discretionary travel and shopping trips are discouraged, and drive-through, pickup or delivery options should be utilized instead of dining in at restaurants and bars.
