Poetry Out Loud 2020 North Dakota Finals

Bill Thomas presents a selection of many of the performances from the 2020 North Dakota Finals.  For this, the students study the poems meaning – not just the obvious, but every nuance.  They practice saying them over and over, with coaching by teachers, paying attention to timing and feeling and diction.  This is 53 minutes worth of wonderful poetry, wonderfully performed.  Some are funny, some are serious, some are old and some are new. Poetry Out Loud is a national contest of poetry recitation.  High school students select poems by recognized poets and memorize them for recitation.  Sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Poetry Foundation, and the North Dakota Council on the Arts, with help from HumanitiesND.
