The Rev. Trefz on Methodist Conference ~ RRRainbow Oral History ~ Zack Pelham, ND State Bar Assn.

dakotasmuc.org

Wednesday, March 6, 2019 – Earlier this week we aired a story from NPR about the rift in the United Methodist church regarding its stance on sexual orientation, a rift that could divide the denomination and perhaps even divide individual congregations. Today we get some thoughts on how the issue might play out in the Dakotas from one of the clergy delegates to the General Conference, the Rev. Rebecca Trefz. She is also the director of connectional ministries for the denomination’s Dakotas Conference. ~~~ From the Red River Rainbow Seniors oral history project, we hear from Jan Titus, a former minister about his experience coming out as gay. ~~~ Zack Pelham, president of the State Bar Association of North Dakota, joins us to discuss the attorney shortage in the state, legal services for low-income veterans, and bills his organization is watching during the legislative session in Bismarck.
