South Central Human Services Center of Jamestown adds Valley City satellite

SCHSC

The South Central Human Service Center in Jamestown is opening a satellite office in Valley City.

Center director Dan Cramer said it will mean Valley City-area people will have greater access to behavioral health services. Cramer said a steering group in Valley City raised some issues concerning those services.

"One of the issues identified is a barrier that exists with transportation, for folks having trouble getting to Jamestown," Cramer said. "Also, just a general need for mental health and addiction treatment in the community."

Cramer said the Valley City site is in the City-County Public Health District Building. He said it will be open Monday through Friday – and he said at first, the hours will vary.

"We want to start on the front end with assessments, so we can get a better sense of the exact level of demand and need, and making sure we're responsive to that," Cramer said.

Cramer said on Fridays, the Valley City office will offer Open Access Integrated Behavioral Health Assessments. He said people can walk in without an appointment, and be assessed.
