9/24/2011:
The first rules for American Football were written in 1876. Since then, the sport thrived, forming the game we know today. On this date in 1931, the Edmore Herald-News reported that local youth had developed an interest in the game. The paper wrote: “During the last two years, footballs have come into the hands of the Edmore youngsters and they have been kicked and tossed about without much regard to system or effectiveness.”
The boys had formed a squad, and there was talk of several teams getting together. The boys even trained with two boys visiting the city who had played in Wisconsin during their high school years.
So, Edmore was really ready for some football! The beginning of a long tradition.
