Misplaced Murder

6/15/2013:

The Bismarck Tribune published a report on the death of a boy near Bloom, North Dakota, on this date in 1922, stating that blame placed on a Northern Pacific train for the death of the boy was in fact misplaced, and that the teenager’s skull was fractured from a single blow. The body of the 18-year-old was found near the railroad right of way, and it was initially believed that he was struck by a train the night before. However, the engineer said the train hadn’t struck anything, but he saw what looked like a pile of rags near the tracks. Investigators concluded that the boy met with foul play and was left near the tracks to cover up the homicide.
