Practical Kindness

Practical Kindness is a new multimedia project from Brandi Malarkey that will explore caretaking, people with dementia, and we'll hear from single parents.

  • Pew Research Center finds that 25-30% of children under 18 are living in single parent households, and 30% of single parents live in poverty. In the third installment of Brandi Malarkey's Practical Kindness series, Brandi explores the many ways women become single moms and the challenges they face.
  • More than 55 million people live with some form of dementia, with North and South Dakota having the highest death rates related to the illness. Caring for those patients is a difficult task. In the second installment of Practical Kindness, we hear from Deb Kaul, the executive director of the Memory Café of the Red River Valley; and also from four caregivers.
