David Hamilton talks about FM Opera's October, 2017 production of  Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss.  He talks with Director Eric Gibson, Christopher Burchett (Eisenstein), Julia Lamon (Adele) and Elizabeth Lewis (Rosalinda)Hear some excerpts from the music, discussion of characters, the nature of operetta, and the ditzy plot. Bonnie Raitt and Mike Olson have a long (35 minute) conversation.  They talk about how Bonnie's parents raised her to be interested in social issues, getting started on the guitar, Ry Cooder, Mississippi Fred McDowell, her new album, producer Joe Henry, local musicians Tom Brosseau and Annie Humphrey and more.  Her show September 1st is at Bluestem  and the Bismarck show is the 5th at the Event Center.  The Fargo show is a benefit for Honor the Earth.

Peter Schickele Talks of His Days in Fargo

In the Spring of 2017, The Fargo-Moorhead Symphony presented the North Dakota premiere of "Concerto for Simply Grand Piano", a new commission by composer Peter Schickele in his humorous mode.  Schickele won two Grammy awards for his comedic classical music recordings by "P.D.Q. Bach".  He came to Fargo for the occasion, and read to an appreciative audience (that included many old friends) a memoir of his years in the town.
