Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity is holding the Dakota Blitz 3:10 in the West Fargo area. The project is partnered by the Blitz Home Builders organization, who selected the area for their next project. Pete Christopher, Resource Development and Marketing Manager, says this project has been in the works for over a year. He says there will be around 100 volunteers from 19 different states participating. Executive Director Jim Nelson says that volunteer work is rewarding.

The West Fargo Police is trying to get to know their community a little better with their Around the World: A Celebration of Cultures event. West Fargo’s Chief of Police, Heith Janke, says it is an opportunity for everyone to get know each other. The event will have various games and food from different countries, a stage where different dances will be performed, and a dunk tank with school resource officers in it. This event is being done in conjunction with West Fargo’s Cultural Liaison position they added recently.

From the American perspective in September of 1918, the allies in France needed to take the offensive instead of continuing the battle of attrition associated with trench warfare. American leaders were willing to commit what was necessary to get the job done quickly. Initially it would result in more casualties, but it promised to bring an earlier end to the war.

The new West Fargo school superintendent is no stranger to the district.

Beth Slette has been with the district 24 years. She has been a teacher, coordinator, assistant principal, principal, director of assessments and as an assistant superintendent.

Slette said she’s seen a lot of growth over the years.

"Our growth is 500-600 students every year," Slette said in an interview.

Last year alone, the district hired 5 additional kindergarten teachers – along with a number of other staff.

The West Fargo Police Department and Cass County Sheriff's Office are offering a $1000 cash reward for information regarding a number of recent break-ins that resulted in the theft of three firearms.
