A change for the Bis-Man Community Foundation.

The Foundation was established in 2011 as a permanently-endowed fund. Since that time, the Foundation has given $140,000 in grants to a number of 501-C-3 organizations in the Bismarck-Mandan area.

It used to be that the Foundation awarded a number of small grants. But that will change.

Advisory Board chair Gina Hruby said the idea came from another board member.

"How do we utilize this fund in a more impactful way?" Hruby said.

So the Board made a decision.

"A Bis-Man 'Super-grant,' rather than multiple, smaller grants," Hruby said. "For 2018, the Super-grant will be $50,000."

Eligible applicants for the grant will be 501-C-3 organizations who serve the Bismarck-Mandan and surrounding area.  Hruby said it will be project-based, and the first award will come later this year. She said it will be an annual grant.

"And because it's an endowment, depending on earnings, we hope it will continue to grow as the market grows," Hruby said.

The rules and procedures are available at the Website BisManCommunityFoundation.org.
