Bill Thompson of Bismarck loves Groundhog Day.

Thompson quit smoking Feb. 2nd, 1978. And every year since then, he has treated family, friends and co-workers to celebrate that day.

Dave Thompson (no relation) was tipped off about his story, and interviewed him in the early 2000s. Bill Thompson actually traveled to Punxatawney, PA on Groundhog Day, and he did a live report from Gobbler's Knob, when Punxatawney Phil saw his shadow.

Bill Thompson is also a songwriter.

Dave Thompson caught up with him again.
You can hear his whole song, grandkids and all, here.
