New CIO hired

The state Investment Board has hired a new Chief Investment Officer.

The board hired Dave Hunter, from Chicago.

Darren Schulz is the deputy CIO and the acting CIO. He says Hunter has 30 years of investment experience. Hunter currently works for HSBC North America Holdings. Schulz says Hunter oversees the firm's defined contribution and non-qualified benefit plans.

"He's a good fit," said Schulz.

Hunter starts December second. He’ll be paid $210,000. Schulz will stay on as the deputy.
