Pretenders frontwoman Chrissie Hynde has always had a dynamic vocal range and pop sensibility. But the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has never taken on jazz until now. Due in September, Valve Bone Woe boasts jazzy covers of her ex Ray Davies, as well as The Beach Boys, Frank Sinatra and Rogers & Hammerstein. She even boils down a sprawling 23-minute Charles Mingus instrumental to a three-minute cover with her ensemble. Grammy-winning jazz drummer Lawrence lo Leathers was found dead in the stairwell of his Bronx apartment on Sunday. His girlfriend and another man were arrested and charged with negligent homicide & manslaughter. As he readies another full-length album, the ever-prolific Ty Segal drops new single and video in which he kills his bandmates for articles of clothing.
