Bank of North Dakota Offers College Saving App

Many parents start college funds right after their children are born. Bank of North Dakota is offering a mobile application to help parents and young kids focus on ways to save money.

"The Big Start Application is a brand new application within the 529 industry it focuses on financial literacy and mainly on education people on saving for college and linking back to our college save website for the state of North Dakota," Barnhardt said.

The Big Start application is available for free on iPhones, iPads and Droid Devices. The app is geared for newborns to 6-year-olds.

"Each chapter has different things that the children can do. The Little By Little Chapter reads to you and you can move things around, it has different languages come up, it is a really neat application which gives a world view," Barnhardt said.

New apps geared for 7 to 12-year-olds and 13 to 18 year-olds will be released before the end of the year.
