It's been dubbed the "North Bakken Expansion Project."
WBI Energy is proposing to build a 60 mile long, 20 inch diameter natural gas pipeline from WBI’s Tioga Compressor Station to an interconnection with the Northern Border Pipeline south of Watford City.
The division of MDU Resources plans to build a new natural gas compressor station near that interconnection, and it plans to construct 20 miles of 12 inch diameter pipeline from the Tioga station to a receipt station.
"It's expected to provide an additional 200,000 mcf per day of natural gas takeaway capacity," said WBI spokesperson Laura Lueder. "That will help reduce natural gas flaring."
Lueder said the company plans to file with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission this month.
"A preliminary route has been selected, and survey work has begun," Lueder said. "With regulatory approval, construction on the project is expected to begin in early 2021, with an in-service date of November, 2021."
The cost: $220 million.
