Tuesday, May 29 – An update from Montana with Eric Whitney, news director for Montana Public Radio. Among the topics for discussion: historic flooding this spring, oil lease lawsuits, forest fires and grizzly bears. ~~~ In today’s Natural ND essay, Chuck Lura discusses snipes, nighthawks, and bitterns. ~~~ A Supreme Court case out of Oklahoma could remake the notion of tribal sovereignty. We begin with an explanation of the case in an interview from Takeaway as host Tanzina Vega visits with Jessica McBride, managing editor at Mvskoke Media. We follow that with further analysis from UND’s Kathryn Rand and Steven Light, who have been following the case. Kathryn is dean of the UND law school, and Steven is the dean of the College of Business and Public Administration. They are also co-directors of the Institute for the Study of Tribal Gaming Law & Policy.
