The state Board of Higher Education has tabled action on a contract extension for NDSU President Dean Breschani.

The extension would have been through June 30th, 2018.

This – after a more than two and a half hour closed door meeting to discuss the extensions for the existing college presidents.  The Board says it wants to review Breschani’s progress on communication, teamwork, collaboration, IT consolidation and research.

Board members complemented Breschani for his work on the campus. But they feel Breschani needs to be more of a team player.

"This is once again centered on student success," said Board President Kathleen Neset. "And to do that, the board is centered on a unified system."

The vote was 7 to 1. The Board will revisit the issue at its November meeting.

Contract extensions were approved for the presidents of Bismarck State College, Lake Region State College, Mayville State University, Minot State University, The North Dakota State College of Science and Valley City State University. UND has a new president starting July first, and Williston State College will soon start the search for a permanent president.
