The Bismarck Human Relations Committee awarded Nan Johnson with the 2013 Humanitarian Award.
Nan Johnson is the site manager at Crescent Manor in Bismarck, a senior-citizen center. Her job entails finding volunteers, maintaining the kitchen, and helping the residents with Social Security benefits. She jokes that she is the “mother of the place.”
“I know that there are a lot of people that are just as deserving, or more deserving than I am,” Johnson said. “The people here are family, and I love them. I think that if you focus on others it returns ten-fold.”
Johnson was nominated for the award by her daughter Dot Frank, one of the Mandan City Commissioners.
