Richardton Receives USDA Grant

To help with growth and planning the United State Department of Agriculture gave a $92,000 grant to the city of Richardton.

Jasper Schneider is the North Dakota State Director of USDA Rural Development. He said, since Richardton is on the edge of oil country it is important for the city to plan ahead.

“Because they (Richardton) are uniquely situated they have an opportunity to grow smartly,” Schneider said. “They have the opportunity to do proper planning, to strategize, to look at things like zoning ordinances, their infrastructure for water, for telecom, and for electric. And look at how as they grow, to do it wisely and strategically.”

Schneider said the grant covers technical assistance. He said Richardton will do strategic planning to see what changes need to be made in order to keep up with the growth of the city.
