A search committee could be named this week for a new president at the University of North Dakota.

"It's been delayed a little bit," said University System chancellor Mark Hagerott. "We had to take time for the situation at Dickinson State."

Current Dickinson State University president D. C. Costen had already announced his retirement . He will step down this month. And the Board of Higher Education named former North Dakota State University president Jim Ozbun as the interim DSU president.

Current UND President Robert Kelley is planning to retire in January. Hagerott says there is a possibility an interim president might have to be named.

"We'll look at the timing at UND," said Hagerott. "It would seem that could be one possibility."

But Hagerott says once the committee is in place, the search can begin.

"We just follow the process with the search firms and teh candidates," said Hagerott. "It's all going to work out great."
