und.edu

Monday, August 26, 2019 – Mary Wakefield has been named one of five “living Legends” by the American Academy of Nursing. The Devils Lake native was an associate dean at UND; the director of the Rural Assistance Center; and also served as Acting Deputy Secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services. Currently she’s a visiting scholar at UND, and she joins us to reflect upon her career, the “Living Legends” honor, and the state of healthcare today. ~~~ The town of Baudette, Minnesota will host this year’s World Ploughing Contest next weekend. 30 countries will be represented. That event will be followed the next day, on September 1st, by the national ploughing contest. Here to tell us about the big event is Joe Henry, executive director for Lake of the Woods Tourism.
