Heidi Muller, "Between the Lines"

Musicians Heidi Muller and Bob Webb are featured on this week’s episode of The Great American Folk Show. The pair are singer-songwriters, and play a handful of instruments including the mountain dulcimer and acoustic guitar.

In 1989, Heidi was recorded at Kerrville Folk Festival performing her song, “Between the Lines.” That recording, and the compilation on which it appears, is now available through Smithsonian Folkways.

Listen to the song:

When Great American Folk Show host Tom Brosseau asked Heidi of her memories recording “Between the Lines” at the festival, she said:

“I remember it well. I was sitting around a very small campfire in the quiet far end of Camp Coho with my friend Paul Edward Sanchez … and Josh Joffen … who made the recording on a small handheld device.

"I don't know if you've even heard of Camp Coho, but that corner of the ranch wasn't named in 1989. It became so the following year when several of my friends from Seattle made it into New Folk in 1990, and our camp was combined with the people who ran Uncle Calvin's Coffeehouse in Dallas. We named the camp after the silver coho salmon. It's become a pretty famous camp over the years.”
