NDSU Cancels Evening Classes, UND Classes Continue
By Steve Wennblom
Fargo, ND – Evening classes at North Dakota State University have been cancelled in the wake of the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, D.C.
NDSU president Joseph Chapman says the break will give students and staff to -- in his words -- a chance to "make sense of this terrible tragedy."
NDSU will also make couselors available to students later today.
NDSU Spokeman Dave Wahlberg says classes were held this afternoon at NDSU, despite the events going on in the eastern United States. He says the state of the university address scheduled for Thursday and a celebration marking the real opening of the main campus gates set to follow the state of the university ? those two events ? have been postponed. A date has not been set for the state of the university address.
The University of North Dakota in Grand Forks kept its full class schedule. But admninistrators encouraged students to seek help from campus counselors if they felt they needed it. UND also asked supervisors to be flexible with workers who have families in Washington and New York.
