Law enforcement authorities in Bismarck have been warning people that a potentially deadly drug mix – being sold as marijuana – could be on its way.
And now, it’s here.
Bismarck Police Sergeant Mark Buschena said an emergency room doctor from one of the local hospitals told police an individual came into the ER, saying he wasn’t feeling well.
"Now this individual told the doctor he had smoked some strange looking marijuana," Buschena said. "He admitted he is a frequent marijuana user. But he said in this case, after taking just two 'hits,' he immediately started to feel sick."
Buschena said doctors did some tests, and the individual tested positive for marijuana, methamphetamine and fentanyl.
"Fentanyl is extremely dangerous," Buschena said. "Even a very small amount can be fatal."
Buschena said doctors believe some of the marijuana being sold in the Bismarck area may have this methamphetamine-fentanyl mixture. It’s already been reported in the Fargo and Grand Forks areas.
