Two Mandan men face drug and weapons charges

Two Mandan men are facing drug and weapons charges after a search of a Mandan residence.

Members of the Metro Area Narcotics Task Force carried out the search warrant. The Task Force found 5 pounds of meth, approximately 300 Fentanyl/Oxycodone pills, marijuana, other pills, powders and mushrooms, and drug paraphernalia.

The officers also found over 30 weapons, including “AK-47” style rifles, as well as materials consistent with the manufacture of explosive devices.

The two men – 40 year old Shane Smith and 40 year old Nicholas Lelm – were arrested. They’ve been charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver, and Possession of Illegal Weapons. Other charges are pending.

The Bismarck and Minot Bomb Squads were called in because of the explosive materials.
